It’s keep this one short and sweet… but it’s definitely not sweet.
February’s been a wild month. I thought I was going to get a good run for the start of this year. Stars were aligning, things going the way they should…
Until the last couple of weeks came along and flipped all that upside down.
To keep it short, the 3D modeler contact that was doing a character model for my own game development use has gone AWOL. This model has been in the works for like 3 years or more to this day. They offered to do the modelling for me in exchange for my programming services to help them make a game, which I agreed to.
Later on, another contact of theirs was able to fund their project. That was great and all, as the modeler was able to replace their failing equipment and start churning out updates to the model of mine. Great!
Fast forward to February 2023.
However, the contact providing them funds to continue working on their project walked out. The Discord used for coordinating things was gone too.
I wondered if I did something wrong, as the server removal came as a surprise. Did they kick me or no longer wanted to talk to me? Did they just give up? What the hell is going on?
It was just weird behaviour on the modelers’ behalf. So, being the person I am, I decided to drop them a memo a few days after they seemed to go radio silent. This was on the 4th of February, 2023. I have yet to hear back from them.
The hunt wait continues…
So, here I am, still waiting for a model. My rope is very thin at the moment, holding on by a few strands. If I don’t hear them the modeler come 1st of March their time, that’s it – I’m cutting the rope and going to look for someone else to do my game development models.
